Company Introduction

Mashbo is a small digital agency based in the heart of Liverpool. We’ve been helping clients and other agencies understand digital and how design led software can have an impact on their businesses. We deliver websites and applications from WordPress to bespoke software for a variety of different industries, working in education, professional services, housing and the third sector. We work with small local organisations through to global brands such as Liverpool Football Club and NBCUniversal.

We also run one of the leading meetups in the North West through our Creative Kitchen vehicle. “The Developer Breakfast” is a gathering of different people involved in tech and design to chat about the industry or to make new friends. We also host our “Made Here” events, showcasing the talent and breadth of the different agencies and freelancers found in Liverpool.

We offer flexible working hours, so our office hours are 9am to 5:30pm, 10am to 6:30pm, 8am to 4:30pm or somewhere in between. We also allow our team to work remotely from time to time.
Job Description

We are looking for a Front-End Web Developer who is motivated to combine the art of design with the art of programming. Responsibilities will include translation of the UI/UX design wireframes to actual code that will produce visual elements of the application. You will work with the UI/UX designer and bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works.

Develop new user-facing features
Build reusable code and libraries for future use
Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability
Assure that all user input is validated before submitting to back-end
Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
Communicate with clients
Develop reusable components
Build living style guides

Skills And Qualifications

Proficient understanding of HTML & CSS
Basic understanding of CSS pre-processing platforms, such as Sass
Familiarity with task runners such as Gulp & Grunt
Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery
Proficient understanding of WordPress and implementing new themes. Knowledge of Advanced Custom Fields is a big plus
Good understanding of modern front-end libraries such as Ember, Angular, React or Vue. We use Ember for our larger applications so specific Ember knowledge is a big plus.
Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image. Familiarity with tools such as Gimp, Photoshop or Sketch is a plus.
Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that applications will adhere to them.
Constant desire to improve, learn and try new techniques. You want to bring ideas to the team that can improve our processes. You find the front-end churn exciting rather than off-putting.
